Prize-winners - UK Artists Annual Exhibition 2017

Prize-winners of the UK Artists Annual Exhibition were judged by Paul Tyler from Aspect Consultants and Jonathan Treadwell from Althorpe Studios who had the difficult task of choosing the winner, second and third prize artworks. There is a separate prize for the themed section ‘Self-portrait’ where artists interpreted the theme in a variety of ways. Visitors to the exhibition also chose their favourite artwork.

1st Prize, £150: Echo of Sorrow, oil on canvas by Suminder Virk.
2nd Prize, £50: Head 1 - Resurrection Series, oil on paper by Dominica Vaughan.
3rd Prize, Chrome Yellow Arts voucher: pelican, bronze sculpture by Simon Higgins.
Themed Prize, £50: I am the Sea, photograph by Clare Acford.

Three artworks were highly commended.

The People’s Choice prize is awarded to the artist who has created the most popular artwork, as judged by visitors to the exhibition. The winning artist receives a year’s free membership to UK Artists. This year, free membership in 2018 was awarded to the joint 2nd placed artists as the winner is director of UK Artists!

Visitor’s votes were entered in a draw to win a framed print ‘Salcombe 1’ by Victoria Smith, and the winner was a delighted Janet Hall.
