The coloured background is painted in acrylic on thick paper. The perspex and painting are fitted into a black wood frame with a gap between so that the shadows of the etched lines are cast on the painting behind it.
The inspiration for the artwork came from reading "Queen of the Air" by John Ruskin.
Ruskin (1819-1900), was an artist himself and also a renowned philosopher and writer,
and the concerns he expressed in his writing are seen today as anticipating some of the problems we are facing at present, such as air pollution and climate change.
The subject of my artwork is Air and the notion that air movement, this invisible force that is so vital to our existence, has played a major part in shaping our world since the beginning of time.

Description
