I paint, mainly in oils. My paintings are based on very quick simple field studies and later developed in the studio, where, through the use of colour and simplification, I attempt to describe the memory of my emotional response to the landscape at the time. These paintings can take weeks, sometimes months, going through many changes, until I am satisfied. I am particularly drawn to the dramatic fleeting effects of light, and like to experiment with different colour combinations and limited palettes.
