I have always been surrounded by art as both my parents were artists and so there was never any doubt which path my career would follow. I gained my degree in Fashion and Textiles, at what is now De Montfort University, and worked first as a fashion designer and then as an art lecturer for many years. Since retiring from teaching, my creativity has continued through painting, drawing, collage and ceramics, as well as textiles.

I am attracted to the satisfying forms found in natural and still life subjects and to the simplicity and comfort of familiar objects. I also have a great love of landscape and I am particularly drawn by the distant horizons of seascapes and mountains, inspired by visits to the west coasts of Ireland and Scotland, north Cornwall and Devon. High mountains make the perfect backdrop for dramatic headlands, rocky cliffs and stunning sandy beaches. Wind and water, silence and sunshine, followed by sudden downpours or huge clouds rolling down
