This is a one-of-a-kind original artwork, created using acrylic paints on a deep-edge canvas that requires no framing, the painting continues round the sides. The process begins with direct observation of place, supported by notes and photographs, before continuing intuitively in the studio. Initial layers are applied with a brush, followed by richly textured impasto built up with a palette knife. Techniques such as expressive dappled strokes, scumbling, and glazing are used to develop depth and luminosity. The painting continues until it reaches a natural conclusion.
