Grey Wagtail by the Water's Edge
This detailed Giclée print portrays the Grey Wagtail (Motacilla cinerea), a graceful bird easily recognised by its slender frame, long tail, and flashes of lemon-yellow beneath its wings and underparts. Perched lightly on the edge of a wooden jetty, the wagtail gazes across the water where a brightly coloured koi drifts beneath the surface — a serene meeting of wild nature and quiet reflection.
The Grey Wagtail is most often found along fast-flowing rivers, streams, and ponds, where it darts nimbly in search of insects. Its characteristic tail-wagging behaviour gives the bird its name and adds to its charm as it moves with constant, elegant motion. Unlike its more familiar relatives, the Grey Wagtail is closely tied to freshwater habitats, though in winter it may be seen near lakes, canals, and even garden ponds.
