Tawny Owls are among Britain's most familiar woodland owls, their haunting “twit-twoo” calls echoing through forests, parks, and gardens after dusk. As nocturnal hunters, they rely on sharp eyesight and acute hearing to locate small mammals, insects, and birds in the darkness.
While adults are secretive and rarely seen, their young — like the one depicted here — often venture to low branches before they have mastered flight, giving lucky observers a fleeting glimpse.
