Description
"Early in the morning, a strong shaft of sunlight was streaming through a dormer window in the studio on to a harp I had been working on. The light reflections and shadows from the harp, in a very short time frame, created a strong composition of shapes and colours which I instantly photographed. Using these images I have made a number of semi-abstract works in paint and mixed media."
Spinal Chord. (Harp 1.) 2019
Part of “Silent Music Project”
“Spinal Chord” is part of a series of four paintings created, from photographs, of a harp standing in the studio window while the strong early morning sun transformed the instrument and its strong shadows, into a series of abstract forms.
The dramatic effect was only present for a few minutes and it was, only with luck, that I was able to capture it on camera.
The painting is acrylic paint on cartridge paper. It is displayed in a white mount with a plain black frame 79cm. x 58cm. x 4.5cm.
