Description
I am fascinated by parrot tulips, with their extraordinary petals that look almost like feathers. Their ruffled, fluffy edges remind me of the plumage of an exotic bird, full of movement and character. In this painting, I wanted to play with that resemblance - a flower that looks as though it could take flight, yet remains beautifully rooted in nature. I love the unexpected combination of soft pinks, turquoise, greens and deeper shades. To me, the petals become feathers, and the tulip becomes a Flightless Parrot - a joyful little creature created entirely
