Description

Has anyone seen the 1970's film the Railway Children? I loved the movie as a child (showing my age now!) The movie is about three children living moving to the countryside, living a different life to what they were used to and waiting to be reunited with their father who had been taken away. It still makes me cry thinking of the moment when Bobby sees her father step of the train 'oh my daddy, my daddy" ??????Being away from our loved ones and family is something many of us are going through right now due to covid19 waiting for life to return to normal which initially inspired this piece!

One of my favourite walks with my family now and as a child with my brother and sister was the 'railway children walk.' Walking to the iconic scenes on the circular tour from Haworth along roads and across open countryside has such a magical feeling to it especially as I am now the adult and I'm walking with my own 3 children and who doesn't love a steam train! When your walking and you hear it approaching it's quite an magnificent sight and always takes me back in time.

This painting holds memories of my past, the present and hopes for the future
