As usual, I created this detailed pastel artwork with soft pastels and pastel pencils on Artspectrum Colourfix pastel paper. The sharpened pencils create the detail and the background is blended using polystyrene sticks to give the three-dimensional effect to the completed pastel painting of this striking barn owl.

I have called this pastel artwork of a barn owl in flight "The Night Watch" and I was really impressed with the reference photo by "Slowmotiongli" on Dreamstime.
As usual, I created this detailed pastel artwork with soft pastels and pastel pencils on Artspectrum Colourfix pastel paper.
